In light of news I found in today’s Unheralded Stuff concerning Serco, I have emailed the following to the Minister for Corrections and the CEO of the Dept of Corrections. I will publish their replies as soon as they come in:

I was wondering if the New Zealand Government was taking an active interest in the issues Serco is having in the UK.Serco is currently “co-operating” with the UK’s Serious Fraud Office on issues of tagging prisoners incorrectly in order to create profit.Is the New Zealand Government and Correctional Department aware of these issues and what is it doing to ensure that incorrect tagging isn’t happening in New Zealand?Kind regards[redacted], Editor of the Ruminator
