Young people’s Jewish problem

I’m sure there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation for this, but crikey. Sort it out young people. This is from the recent Young Nats Ball.

After last year’s Sieg Heil you’d think that little group of up-and-comers would be EXTRA careful. One of the commenters below isĀ definitely a Young Nat, the other appears to be a Labour supporter. So hey, political parties let’s try teaching our young people some fucking decency.

    1. Just to explain, Simon posted a comment with links to the individuals’ Facebook pages. I didn’t publish it because I don’t want people piling onto their pages and finding out their details.

I also sent Simon a private message explaining that. But he’s totally fair to put this comment here if he wants.

  1. [redacted because it identifies people].

It might also be relevant to point out that the person who called her the terrible racial slur is her boyfriend.

Then maybe you could apologise for describing this whole affair as being evidence of the NZ Young Nationals as having “a real problem with Jews”.

  2. But it doesn’t matter if she is a member of the group being used as a derogatory term, that’s not why it’s offensive. In the same way that if I called you a homo and if you weren’t gay we were supposed to all be fine with that. The sexist slight still stands. Or in this case, the anti semitic one.

    1. Yep, teenagers are stupid and insensitive and don’t understand the overtones of the words they use and grownups don’t understand why the teenagers don’t understand them. When a young Cunliffe supporter jokingly calls his (current or recent) girlfriend “Jew Master” in a Facebook comment, this is obviously evidence that the NZ Young Nationals have a real problem with Jews.

      Somehow.

  3. Simon –

When I thought it was just the Young Nats involved, I did say they had a problem with Judaism. Because there’s an alarming trend emerging of casual anti-semitism, which left unchecked can develop. I’m not backing down from that.

Also, I changed the article when you showed me that one of the individuals in question was a Labour supporter. So I’m not entirely sure what your issue is.

I’ve also emailed you this very point but you don’t respond to any of my attempts to contact you. It almost seems like you’re actually just concern-trolling.
