Possibly wanted: one curator

Hello Ruminator readers
Due to a number of circumstances, there’s a chance that I will no longer be able to curate/edit/write for this blog. This makes me sad inside but also excited.
This isn’t wholly to do with my Ferguson fuck up, but that’s part of it. There are other things that I’m not going to go into here. But the point of this post is not to throw me a pity party, it’s to find out if there is anyone out there who would be interested in picking up the role of Lord Sutch and play editor?
Tasks include:
- Review/edit every post that comes in; largely for typos more than anything else. Unless it’s terribly written it tends to get published. One of the things I wanted to do with this site was set up a place that amateur writers could get their stuff published when they may not have a channel that has so many eyes.
- Write posts. These can be anything – and should be anything really. This got a little bit more political than I wanted it to, but that’s me. I’m a huge political nerd. It’s important that you’re fair though. If your party/ideology of choice does something you disagree with, don’t be afraid of calling it out. But also don’t be afraid to write a post you may think pointless. They’re fun too.
- Encourage/solicit writing from other people. There are a stable of cool people who write semi-regularly, it would be your job to corral them into writing and also to actively seek out other writers. I’ve wanted to get some science and sport based writing on here but have failed at that mission.
- Site maintenance; this is pretty simple. If this comes to fruition then I can help you with this but yeah, like I say easy as.
There’s no guarantee if I am going to leave, that’s just a possibility. I’ve already spoken to a couple of people who I thought might be candidates but am yet to get anyone keen. But much like the Dread Pirate Roberts this legacy must go on!
If you are keen, flick me an email on editor@ruminator.co.nz and we can get to talking.
Love all of you (even you Martyn)
Dave
