Right back at the beginning of 2014 I wrote an angry post on how Buzzfeed, Cracked and Upworthy were destroying us with ridiculous headlines.
Let’s not talk about incest any more aye? It was fun while it lasted but we’re moving on. Here’s some world news you may not have known about.
Much of the world has been in a flap about flappy bird. I have it on my phone. It’s not that good. More just frustrating.
Goodness, between wildfires in Australia, the Sochi Olympics and Danish Zoos feeding dead giraffes to lions it’s a wonder anything else was reported. Fortunately I’ve gone looking so you don’t have to.
In light of news I found in today’s Unheralded Stuff concerning Serco, I have emailed the following to the Minister for Corrections and the CEO of the Dept of Corrections.
So if you’re all done reading the myriad articles on Lorde, including our own Jonny Potts’ thinkpiece then you must be thirsting for something of actual news-value. Well we have just the death, destruction and disaster for you. It’s time for Unheralded Stuff.
As New Zealanders have their eyes on either Lorde’s state of the nation speech or David Cunliffe’s performance at the grammys we take a look around the rest of the world and see what’s going on.
Once more the world sections of Stuff.co.nz and the Herald have been fairly comprehensive. Good job guys. This has also been a learning curve for me, I’ve learned a lot of things that are going on in the world. And they’re quite shit for the most part. Lucky I am able to laugh at the worst we have to offer.
I’ve noticed an improvement in the calibre of the world news on both Stuff.co.nz and the Herald. So well done. Long may it continue.
So there’s been some pretty massive news overnight about the war on drugs. And I’ve done a site search on both Stuff.co.nz and nzherald.co.nz and neither outfit is covering it.
A day after Hollywood started its annual circle-jerk season, and Tina Fey casually got super racist (was no-one else uncomfortable with her ‘blacklist’ gag?) we’re back to other things that I’ve found.
As New Zealand news media salivate over the wedding of David Bain and the convicted killer in his bridal party, other things happened in the world. Here’s a snapshot of the things I’ve noticed.
Here’s a collection of links to stories I haven’t noticed on Stuff or the Herald. Most of it is depressing because hey, we live in a depressing world. But there we go.
